Time & Location
Jul 03, 2021, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Red Rock Family Farm, 950 Sleeping Child Rd, Hamilton, MT 59840, USA
About the event
Come join our next Building a Stronger Bitterroot event with special guest and soil grazing expert Jim Gerrish followed by a community BBQ!
In this three hour workshop, Jim will teach us about how to understand and manage four key ecosystem processes to regenerate healthy soils and landscapes.
He will teach us how to:
- effectively manage grazing to capture more solar energy
- improve water cycle function
- create effective mineral cycling
- and nurture biodiversity on your farm or ranch
He will also explain why managing time rather than just space is critical to effective grazing management.
We will begin the workshop with a 1-hour classroom session to explain the basic principles of Management Intensive Grazing. The remainder of the morning (approximately 2 hours) will be spent as a ‘pasture-walk’ format to observe and explore the four ecosystem processes in action.
Please dress for being in the elements and taking a walk.
Suggested Donation for Speaker Fee & BBQ: $25 (no one will be turned away for lack of funds)
See you July 3rd!
