Kitchen Workshops bring together Youth Farm Interns and local food producers for one day projects on how to prepare and serve local foods. As a new program to Cultivating Connections, we have enlisted Farm friend and collaborator Erin Belmont of House of Ferments, to host a two part mini series workshop with our Youth Farm Interns. She will teach them the basics of prepping and chopping produce grown by the interns for the Meals On Wheels program, in order to make it more user-friendly in their high production kitchen. Erin will also teach the girls about the wild art of fermentation, develop personalized recipes, and instruct the group on making and maintaining their very own custom fermentation creations. Interns also participated in a one day mini-project at Tucker Family Farm where they learned about using sheep milk to make the delicious cheeses we have come to love from the artisan cheese makers.
